Alcohol Aftercare

Recovery from an alcohol addiction is a long, difficult process. Detoxification and rehabilitation are only the first steps in this journey. Alcoholics are at risk of relapse throughout their life but especially in the first year following rehab treatment. We therefore provide a comprehensive, bespoke programme of aftercare which affords the individual the best chance of sustained abstinence from alcohol abuse. This includes all or some of the following:

Sober Companions

We can arrange for a specialist sober companion to stay with the client for between 3 days and 6 months after discharge from a rehab treatment centre. The sober companion eases the transition from the clinic back into the real world, ensures they attend the relevant alcohol counselling and/or support groups and helps them stick to the discharge plan.

Care Co-ordination

Clients will be assigned a Care Co-ordinator who manages their ongoing alcohol recovery plan following discharge from a rehab clinic, providing ongoing advice and support.

Local Counselling and Therapy

Many individuals require ongoing counselling in order to remain sober. We have an extensive network of highly experienced counsellors and therapists, and can arrange treatment in your local area.

Relapse Prevention Counselling

Relapse prevention counselling usually takes the form of cognitive behavioural therapy and is key to giving the individual coping strategies to live a life free of alcohol.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other with the purpose of staying sober and helping other alcoholics achieve sobriety. It is thought that those who attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are less likely to relapse than those who don’t. We can help you locate your nearest AA meeting.

Alcohol Testing

Families are often worried that their loved one will relapse without them knowing it. We can therefore administer random alcohol tests at the request of families or concerned parties.

Family Support

Alcohol addiction can impact the entire family, and it’s important that those closest to the alcoholic understands the illness that is alcoholism. Support for family members or carers is a vital part of our aftercare progamme.
